The Treehouse Sanctuary

Date of Project: Oct 2021 - Feb 2022

ISSUE: Due to the ongoing pandemic - migrant construction workers are often confined in their dormitories and are struggling with poor living conditions while also having to deal with the amplified prejudice against them; thus, affecting their mental well-being.

INTENT: The intent is to improve the living conditions of the migrant construction workers confined in the dormitories; giving them a sense of being in a sanctuary. Besides that, using the site's location engages the workers and the residential community together.

STATEMENT: To design housing dormitories with comfortable living conditions for the migrant construction workers that can accommodate lockdown/quarantine impacts by maximising the number of activities that can be done in each dorm.
Open, communal spaces will be created for people to roam about freely and for volunteers to offer their services and donations to the workers -thus, encouraging engagement between the workers and locals.
Hence, improving the workers' mental well-being.

ComLink Kampong

About: This school project was to design a community space at blocks 30 and 31 Chai Chee Ave to engage the Social service workers and the public. This is to let the social workers gain a better understanding of their community; the community will also learn and trust the workers with their issues

Concept: Kampong spirit
What better way to connect two parties other than using a traditional spirit found in olden times?

"Both the spirit and the spatial organization of the kampong grew organically out of the lives of the residents back then, so in the same way I want the project to grow organically out of the current lives of the rental block residents.
Hence, I studied a kampong village spatial layout organization and how the physical layout affects their social relationships. I also studied the activities and interior architectural aspects of the kampong and the interactions of the people at Chai Chee Avenue."

D'Leedon renovation works

Date of Project: Apr 2021 - Oct 2021

About: This full renovation project was something I partook in during my internship at DI I + Associates Pte Ltd. It is a 1,714.00 sqft private condominium with 3 bedrooms.
Concept: The client wanted a luxurious-looking interior; something to 'show off her wealth but not too heavy-looking.
The budget was around $17k-$18K.
The colour scheme was mostly neutral colours, but with a spot of green here and there.
In this project, I did the interior designing, sourcing for furniture, materials, & home accessories, technical drawings, budgeting, project supervision and purchasing of items. When my internship was completed, the project was in its construction stage
